Primary 4 Math Tuition — Live Online, Groups of 5

For Primary 4 students (typically 10 years old). Children whose marks dropped when decimals and fraction-of-a-set appeared, or who guess instead of drawing models.

MOE syllabus alignment

Fully aligned to the MOE Primary 4 Mathematics syllabus. We teach the same topics, in the same sequence, using the same bar-model and heuristic approach your child's school uses — so what happens in class here reinforces what happens in school.

What we cover at Primary 4

  • Whole numbers to 100,000, factors and multiples
  • Four operations with larger numbers and order of operations
  • Mixed numbers, improper fractions and fraction of a set
  • Decimals to 3 places: place value, the four operations, rounding
  • Area and perimeter of composite figures; squares, rectangles and triangles
  • Angles: measuring with a protractor, angles at a point, 8-point compass
  • Symmetry and tessellation
  • Tables, line graphs and interpreting data
  • Multi-step word problems requiring model drawing across fractions and decimals

Class format and teachers

Live on Zoom

Live on Zoom, taught in real time by a teacher — never a recording.

Two hours per week, one session. Weekday or weekend slot.

Capped at 5 students

Capped at 5 students per class (up to 7 only when a make-up student joins a session).

NIE-trained teachers

Your child's Primary 4 Math class is taught by a current or ex-MOE teacher who has taught this level in a Singapore school. We do not publish teacher names or photos — a deliberate policy we explain in full on our teachers page.

How the brainflex method works at Primary 4

  1. 01

    Assess

We look closely at decimals and fraction-of-a-set, the two places P4 students quietly lose ground.

  2. 02

    Diagnose

Many P4 mistakes are conceptual: fractions treated as two separate whole numbers stacked together.

  3. 03

    Target

We rebuild the meaning of a fraction and decimal place value before drilling operations on them.

  4. 04

    Practise

Multi-step questions that force model drawing, since P4 is where guessing stops working.

  5. 05

    Review

Session notes show which heuristic your child reached for and whether it was the right one.

The full five-stage cycle is explained on the method page.

Common FAQ

Why did decimals cause such a big drop?

Decimal place value is usually taught quickly. If it was not secure, every operation afterwards inherits the error.

Is P4 too early to worry about PSLE?

P4 content is directly assumed at P5 and P6. Closing gaps now is far cheaper than closing them in PSLE year.

Will you cover school topics or the gaps?

Both. We keep your child current with school while running targeted repair on the diagnosed gap.

How many children are in one class?

Five. Primary 4 classes are capped at 5 students so the teacher can speak to your child by name in every session. We only stretch to 7 when a student joins for a make-up lesson.

Can we try before committing?

Yes. Start with the S$20 Learning Gap Assessment — a real live session where a teacher works with your child and reports back on exactly what is missing.
