Primary 1 Math Tuition — Live Online, Groups of 5
For Primary 1 students (typically 7 years old). Children just entering formal Math, including those who did not attend a Math-heavy preschool and are still counting on their fingers.
MOE syllabus alignment
Fully aligned to the MOE Primary 1 Mathematics syllabus. We teach the same topics, in the same sequence, using the same bar-model and heuristic approach your child's school uses — so what happens in class here reinforces what happens in school.
What we cover at Primary 1
- Whole numbers to 100: counting, place value, ordering and number patterns
- Addition and subtraction within 100, including mental strategies
- Multiplication and division as grouping and sharing (2, 3, 4, 5, 10)
- Basic shapes: circles, triangles, squares, rectangles and simple patterns
- Comparing length and mass in non-standard and standard units
- Reading and writing time to the hour and half hour
- Singapore money: recognising coins and notes, simple totals
- Picture graphs with one-to-one representation
Class format and teachers
Live on Zoom
Live on Zoom, taught in real time by a teacher — never a recording.
Two hours per week, one session. Weekday or weekend slot.
Capped at 5 students
Capped at 5 students per class (up to 7 only when a make-up student joins a session).
NIE-trained teachers
Your child's Primary 1 Math class is taught by a current or ex-MOE teacher who has taught this level in a Singapore school. We do not publish teacher names or photos — a deliberate policy we explain in full on our teachers page.
How the brainflex method works at Primary 1
- 01
Assess
We watch how your child counts — on fingers, by rote, or with real number sense — rather than only marking the answer.
- 02
Diagnose
A wrong sum at P1 is usually place value or number bonds, not carelessness. We name which one it is.
- 03
Target
Teaching starts at the broken step, often rebuilding bonds to 10 before touching two-digit work.
- 04
Practise
Short, concrete practice with objects and pictures before symbols, so the idea sticks before the notation does.
- 05
Review
Parents get a short note after every session saying what clicked and what we will revisit next week.
The full five-stage cycle is explained on the method page.

Common FAQ
My child is still counting on their fingers. Is that a problem?
Not at P1 — but it becomes one by P2. We rebuild number bonds so mental strategies replace finger counting naturally.
Is two hours too long for a 7-year-old?
The session is broken into short segments with movement and talking built in, so attention is reset several times.
Do you use the bar model at P1?
We introduce part-whole thinking with pictures and objects first. Formal bar models come in from P2.
How many children are in one class?
Five. Primary 1 classes are capped at 5 students so the teacher can speak to your child by name in every session. We only stretch to 7 when a student joins for a make-up lesson.
Can we try before committing?
Yes. Start with the S$20 Learning Gap Assessment — a real live session where a teacher works with your child and reports back on exactly what is missing.
